WASHINGTON--()--Mark S. Rivers has been named Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Lowe Enterprises Real Estate Group’s Washington D.C. Metro operations. He will oversee all commercial and multifamily activities in the Washington D.C. Metro area including acquisitions, development, asset management and business development.

Together with Rivers’ new role, Mike Balaban, who formerly led Lowe’s Washington D.C. area operations, has assumed a larger strategic role for the firm pursuing expanded national development strategies as well as continuing to develop new business in the eastern U.S.
Rivers joined Lowe Enterprises in 2004. He oversaw the $150 million restoration of the historic Washington Hilton Hotel as well as the development of the award-winning $245 million CityVista project in the heart of Washington, D.C. Previously, Rivers was Chief Operating Officer of a national development management firm where he was responsible for all aspects of the operating business and served as program and account manager for major clients including Verizon, Fannie Mae, George Washington University, ExxonMobil, American Red Cross and Northrop Grumman. He earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia. Rivers is a resident of Washington, D.C.
Lowe Enterprises established its Washington D.C. area office in 1980, and has been an active investor and developer of commercial real estate throughout the region. Lowe’s current projects include the $70 redevelopment of 1400 Crystal Drive in Crystal City and the Fort Totten Square mixed use project. Some of the firm’s recent projects include the development of the $245 million CityVista mixed-use project at 5th and K Street, NW and the $150 million restoration of the famed Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
