LONDON--()--Businesses are often under the misconception that becoming an environmentally responsible corporation can be costly and complicated. However, the Remark Group, an intelligent business technology innovator, is advising companies that they could save on energy bills through the government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme.
“We offer free site assessments and expert advice for businesses looking to become more energy efficient. Remark removes all site waste in compliance with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations and is a supporter of the Climate Reduction Commitment.”
Modern energy-efficient equipment can be installed into existing fittings to minimise energy bills which, coupled with the government’s ECA scheme, could offer return on investment within two to three years. Therefore, Remark is advising that businesses appoint reputable electrical contractors to carry out a survey on their energy usage as the first step in understanding where saving opportunities may lie.
Part of the government’s climate change management programme, the ECA provides 100 per cent first year capital allowance for businesses investing in energy-saving equipment. Companies can apply for assistance with upgrades through the ECA scheme, with the tax relief also extending to parts and labour. As of 1st December 2012, there were 15,968 energy-efficient products eligible for 100 per cent tax relief.
Russell Howland, Associate Director at Remark, commented: “With energy prices expected to rise again in 2013, we would recommend businesses have an energy usage survey undertaken and act quickly on findings. A predicted rise in commercial energy costs of 6 to 8 per cent could have a harmful effect on the ongoing finances of a business, so now is the perfect time to capitalise on the government’s ECA scheme and the Carbon Trust Scheme’s zero per cent loans, which covers the initial outlay of projects.
