Mr. Robbins, a partner in the firm’s Cincinnati office, has deep experience in a broad range of intellectual property matters including patent and trademark prosecution, counseling, and litigation.

Ulmer & Berne’s IP & Technology Practice boasts 20 registered patent attorneys and one registered patent agent, as well as numerous trademark, licensing and other information technology attorneys. The practice stretches across the firm’s Chicago, Cincinnati and Cleveland offices and has more than doubled in size in the past five years.
The firm’s IP & Technology Practice lawyers have extensive experience in the areas of patent and other intellectual property litigation, copyright and trademark law, the protection and enforcement of trade secret rights, and the consummation of acquisitions, divestitures and licensing transactions dealing with technology assets to assist clients in achieving their business goals. They also have extensive experience in data privacy, protection and information security. Representing clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, the group establishes, preserves, defends, and commercializes IP rights and technology assets.
Most of the attorneys in the group have scientific and engineering backgrounds, including significant experience in industries driven by electrical, mechanical, chemical, and computer science technologies. The attorneys are proven trial counsel in state and federal courts and before the International Trade Commission (ITC), and serve as strong advocates before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The group provides counsel on complex intellectual property issues in a wide range of industries, including medical devices, automotive and consumer goods.

With his electrical engineering education and work experience, Mr. Robbins has the experience to understand and navigate the most complex of technologies and
scientific processes. He counsels corporate and individual clients in the securement, ownership, licensing, avoidance of infringement, dispute resolution, and enforcement of patents, trademarks and copyrights. He also prepares and facilitates ongoing prosecution of patent applications at the USPTO in the electrical, mechanical, and computer science arts. His patent litigation experience includes federal court and International Trade Commission cases.
Mr. Robbins has been named a Rising Star on the Ohio Super Lawyers list and among The Best Lawyers in America in Intellectual Property Law. He is a member of the U.S. Patent Law Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association, serves as a firm representative with the World Services Group, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Mr. Robbins has a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
