LAKE GENEVA, Wis.--()--Primex Wireless – a global market leader providing advanced facility monitoring, synchronized time and compliance technologies – recently polled Facility, Environment of Care (EC) and Risk & Compliance Managers (R&C) at hospitals and healthcare facilities about the effectiveness of manual processes for monitoring temperature levels in medical refrigeration units. Their responses revealed two main conclusions: Manual monitoring can lead to losses of medical inventory; and, R&C Managers are worried the situation will cause regulatory compliance issues.
“More than 80 percent said they are concerned about manual monitoring of temperature and humidity levels of refrigeration units. More than 75 percent of that same group feels manual monitoring will cause a regulatory compliance issue in the next two years.”
“When we asked Facility, EC and R&C Managers at hospitals and healthcare facilities about the effectiveness of manual monitoring for medical refrigeration, three of five reported the loss of medical inventory, such as vaccines or drugs, due to out-of-range temperatures,” said Joe Beckman, the Vice President at Primex Wireless who supervised the study.
“They also told us the situation makes them nervous,” Beckman said. “More than 80 percent said they are concerned about manual monitoring of temperature and humidity levels of refrigeration units. More than 75 percent of that same group feels manual monitoring will cause a regulatory compliance issue in the next two years.”
Beckman elaborates on the survey findings in a recent video on the Primex Wireless Industry Perspectives blog http:/www.primexwireless.com/perspectives/entry/refrigeration-woes-leave-healthcare-in-the-cold.
