LAFAYETTE, Calif.--()--The Poster Compliance Center Research Department advises U.S. employers that the U.S. Department of Labor published the long awaited new FMLA poster on February 5th.
The Department of Labor (DOL) issued a Final Rule implementing and interpreting amendments to the FMLA, which were signed into law in 2010. These amendments expanded military family leave and the required FMLA poster has been updated to reflect the Final Rule changes.
The FMLA poster is required for all covered employers, which means those with 50 or more employees. Public agencies and public and private elementary and secondary schools are also covered regardless of the number of employees.
Changes to the “Military Family Leave Entitlements” section of the poster include:
- Military caregiver leave expanded to include family members of certain veterans with a serious injury or illness. Military caregiver leave was previously limited to family members of current service members.
- New information added clarifying definitions for “serious injury or illness” or “serious health condition”.
