SALT LAKE CITY--()--Needle announced today that it has added Adorama.com, one of the world’s largest and most successful camera and film equipment eCommerce sites, to its growing roster of clients. After Adorama’s sister-site, Leisure Pro, completed a successful pilot and test with Needle in 2012, Adorama signed Needle as well, attributing the decision to the sales and brand loyalty Needle has generated on LeisurePro.com.
Needle’s process of recruiting and certifying fans and product experts and putting them to work as online salespeople – a term the company has dubbed “fansourcing” – enables Adorama to leverage passionate photography experts nationwide to assist its online shoppers. Through Needle’s proprietary chat platform, the certified Adorama experts help customers make purchase decisions as they are shopping the site.
Sister site LeisurePro, which implemented Needle last August, has seen conversion rates of 20-25 percent and average order values that are 65 percent higher for customers who chat with a Needle expert versus those who don’t. After performing tests, Leisure Pro estimates it has gained more than a 6x return from Needle. Leisure Pro’s experience with Needle was also covered in the February issue of Internet Retailer.
Glen Holman, Adorama CIO, explained, “Needle is part of Adorama’s long-term strategy of helping consumers, overwhelmed by the sea of choices, choose the product that is right for them. Needle has allowed us to replicate the positive experience online that people have in our brick and mortar store. Any initial skepticism melted away once we saw increased conversion and overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers.”
Adorama joins companies like Under Armour, Coach, Skullcandy, Astro Gaming, Urban Outfitters, Norton, and Timex as Needle clients.
