HR Certification Institute Announces 2013 Board of Directors

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The HR Certification Institute (the Institute), the internationally recognized certifying body for the HR profession, has appointed officers and named the Strategy Committee chair for its 2013 Board of Directors, according to Amy Dufrane, Ed.D., SPHR, CAE, chief operating officer and acting interim executive director for the Institute.

The Executive Committee for the 2013 Board of Directors, elected to serve for a one-year term, is:

Chair Clarissa A. Peterson, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®), Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR®), is an HR executive with more than 20 years of experience. She is the Chief Human Resources and Ethics Officer for Abt Associates, a mission-driven, global leader in research and program implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy, and international development. She is responsible for the alignment of Abt Associates’ global strategy toward its people, their overall employment experience, engagement and development.

Immediate Past Chair Gardiner Hempel, Jr., CPA, GPHR, is a partner in the Global Employer Services (GES) practice of Deloitte Tax LLP. He has 34 years of experience in the global mobility area and has lived and worked in Germany, Hong Kong, and Japan. He is a long-time volunteer leader and is serving his sixth year on the Institute Board.

Secretary/Treasurer Karen Bennett, SPHR, CCP, has 25 years of experience with Fortune 500 companies setting strategy and executional plans for total rewards, talent acquisition, HR technology, global mobility and human capital planning and talent management. Most recently, Bennett served as senior vice president of HR for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.).

Strategy Committee Chair O. David Jackson, SPHR, PMP, MBA, is an HR leader passionate about leveraging the value that human resources delivers toward maximizing business results. He joined Microsoft Corporation in 2006 and presently serves as the HR Director for the Online Services Division’s Business Groups, encompassing the Marketing, Advertising, Finance, and Project Management organizations.
