Mills Presents NPR Senior National Correspondent Linda Wertheimer in Conversation with Christine Pelosi

OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mills College kicks off its celebration of Women’s History Month with a live-audience interview between National Public Radio (NPR) Senior National Correspondent Linda Wertheimer and author, attorney, and political activist Christine Pelosi on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.

At the core of Women’s History Month is the belief that recognizing the achievements of women has a huge impact on the development of self-respect and better opportunities for girls and young women. Consistent with that philosophy, for 160 years, Mills College has been committed to cultivating the next generation of thoughtful, powerful women by preparing leaders to produce positive change locally, regionally, and globally.

The evening will begin with an in-depth talk from Wertheimer about the current political climate, with special attention given to issues faced by the new Congress and newly reelected President Barack Obama.

A highly regarded media leader, Linda Wertheimer is known for her discerning analysis and thoughtful reporting on all NPR News programs. A graduate of a women’s college, Wertheimer received the Distinguished Alumna Achievement Award from Wellesley College in 1985.

Christine Pelosi, another veteran observer of politics, will join Wertheimer on stage to discuss challenges unique to women candidates and the expanding role of social media and technology in modern campaigns.

Pelosi has dedicated her professional life to developing effective leaders around the world by training volunteers, political candidates, and members of NGOs. Her books, Campaign Boot Camp: Basic Training for Future Leaders (2007) and Campaign Boot Camp 2.0 (2012) include Pelosi’s particular interest in developing women’s growth in political arenas.
