AUSTELL, Ga.--(YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, today announced that its ProTek® Product Line was selected in the renovation and expansion of East Hampton High School on Long Island’s South Shore. East Hampton High School is often subject to harsh weather conditions and incorporated YKK AP’s impact resistant building products to ensure the safety of its students and faculty.)--
“The ProTek family of products meets the strictest building codes and has been through rigorous testing. When the renovation was first started no one planned on having to endure Superstorm Sandy, but they sure were prepared for it.”
Most recently, YKK AP’s solutions passed the ultimate durability test as Superstorm Sandy rolled through the region. The high school served as a Red Cross shelter during the storm and provided refuge for 200 members of the local community. Improvements completed in 2011 provided enhanced protection to the building’s facade while staying within the school district’s budget requirements. The renovation included the use of YKK AP’s YOW 225TUH Impact Windows System, the YHS 50 TU Storefront System, the Model 35H Entrance Door, and the YHC 300 OG Curtain Wall. These products are proven to protect the structure from wind-borne debris and extreme weather conditions.
“I commend East Hampton High School for putting students’ safety first when undergoing their recent renovation,” said Mike Turner, vice president of marketing at YKK AP America. “The ProTek family of products meets the strictest building codes and has been through rigorous testing. When the renovation was first started no one planned on having to endure Superstorm Sandy, but they sure were prepared for it.”
The ProTek product family meets International Building Codes and Federal Standards for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the General Services Administration (GSA). Additionally, the product line also meets the requirements of Miami Dade County (NOA) and Florida product approval and is engineered and tested in accordance with ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E 1996 as well as the South Florida “High Velocity Hurricane Zone” test requirements.
