PHOENIX--()--Arizona business and education leader Fred DuVal has filed paperwork establishing a committee, Fred DuVal Governor 2014, to explore a run for Arizona’s Governor. DuVal has held leadership positions in the Arizona Governor's Office, the White House, Arizona’s public university system and in the private sector where he was credited with solving big problems for middle-class families. DuVal cited his concerns about Arizona’s public schools and economic future as his main motivations in taking this step. Upon filing the required documents with the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office for forming an exploratory committee, which listed the Honorable Daniel Valenzuela as Chairman and CC Goldwater as Treasurer, DuVal released the following statement:
“Like many Arizonans I believe our state can do better”
"Like many Arizonans I believe our state can do better," said DuVal. "We are slipping in too many areas that are critical to success. Investment in Arizona has suffered, resulting in education cuts, stalled growth and vanishing jobs, slowly closing the gates of opportunity on our next generation. And our state’s politicians have no clear strategy to attract jobs of the future or for the changes required to ensure our prosperity. No shared goals. No shared purpose. No shared plan. Instead, our legislature has earned Arizona a reputation of pettiness and ignored the things that matter."
"When I grew up, Arizona’s progress was made possible by our respect for each other, our search for common ground and our commitment to the greater good. Everyone was at the table, everyone asked to help, and everyone was given a fair shot at success. That was Arizona’s promise. This is what we need to renew."
DuVal graduated from Tucson High School. He received a B.A. from Occidental College and received a degree in law from Arizona State University. He is married to Jennifer Hecker DuVal and has two sons. A website will be launched soon at www.Fred2014.com.
