BATON ROUGE, La.--()--Nearly one year ago, Louisiana began a new approach to behavioral health care with the Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership – a broad collaboration that has expanded access to services and enhanced quality of care for people with behavioral health needs.
Magellan Behavioral Health in Louisiana, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Magellan Health Services Inc. (NASDAQ: MGLN), which is managing the Partnership, is holding a series of nine public forums throughout the state in February and March to provide a report to the community on the Partnership’s first year and continue the dialogue on transforming behavioral health care as Year 2 begins. All forums will be held from 5-7 p.m.
“Since March 2012, our work with the Department of Health and Hospitals and hundreds of stakeholders across the state has accelerated the transformation of the behavioral health system in Louisiana. Working together, we have supported nearly 100,000 individuals and families on their journey toward recovery and securing a healthier future, and our work is just beginning,” Craig Coenson, M.D., CEO of Magellan in Louisiana, said. “We are eager to share our first year results, which show a clear trend away from institutionalization to more effective home and community-based care. And we look forward to hearing from the community about how to continue to improve behavioral health care in our state through roundtable discussions and question and answer sessions.”
