GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.--(The MADDEN Museum of Art is pleased to announce the opening of INSPIRED BY ART: The Building of a Legacy, which showcases the artwork collected by John & Marjorie Madden during their 50 years of world travel, exploration, philanthropy and office building development.)--
The exhibit, which highlights works from notable Italian, Chinese, and American artists such as Chen Chi, Harry Marinsky, Robert Rauschenberg, Thomas Hart Benton, and Daniel Sprick, is the first time this uniquely personal collection has been presented to the public in its entirety. A large collection of 19th Century Italian – Macchiaioli paintings will also be featured. From the objects of their desires to their methods of collecting, this exhibition represents John and Marjorie Madden’s lifelong passion, yet manages to transcend personal significance through its scope of artists and genres.
This permanent installation is the sum of 50 years of collecting and is curated by Museum of Outdoor Arts’ Executive Director and co-founder, Cynthia Madden Leitner. The opening celebration will feature traditional Irish fare, cocktails and refreshments, and Celtic-themed entertainment.
