BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--Bud’s Best Cookies is pleased to announce that every cookie flavor from their Bud’s Best Cookie line is now produced using trans fat-free shortening.
“It was imperative that the flavor profile of each variety was not compromised, so we took extra time to get them all right before the change was implemented.”
Consumption of trans fats increases bad cholesterol levels, further contributing to the leading cause of death in the country, coronary heart disease. The benefits of eliminating trans fat ingredients include reducing the risk of experiencing complications with heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.
With a recent emphasis being placed on the negative effects of using trans fats, the cookie producer committed to a transition in the way healthier alternatives were being formulated into product recipes. With its consumers’ health at heart, Bud’s Best Cookies decided to begin the process of altering each flavor variety so they can enjoy a healthier alternative.
“Even though it wasn’t required for us to make this change, we wanted to do this for our customers,” said President and COO Al Cason. “It was imperative that the flavor profile of each variety was not compromised, so we took extra time to get them all right before the change was implemented.”
Bud’s Best Cookies has vowed to maintain current pricing points and absorb the additional expense, although production costs increased five percent to formulate this healthier alternative.
