Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Retains the Commonwealth of Virginia Health Benefits Account

Anthem awarded a number of new services including pharmacy benefit management

RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Commonwealth of Virginia has awarded Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield a three-year contract to administer health benefits for nearly 250,000 state and municipal health plan members. The agreement calls for an option of three additional years and will be effective July 1, 2013.

In addition to being the incumbent medical and vision benefit provider, Anthem will now provide behavioral health benefits, employee assistance program services, flexible spending account administration and serve as the pharmacy benefit manager for the Commonwealth.
