Cupertino Electric Installing Transmission Line to Interconnect Substation Serving 200 MW Solar Project in Southern California

CALEXICO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cupertino Electric, Inc. (CEI), a nationally-acclaimed electrical engineering and construction firm, today announced at a groundbreaking ceremony that it is installing a new 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line to interconnect a new substation serving a 200 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Imperial Valley, Calif. The utility-scale solar photovoltaic plant in Southern California is expected to produce energy for more than 240,000 households by 2013.

About the 230 kV Transmission Line Project

When complete in late 2013, the overhead 230 kV transmission line installed by Cupertino Electric will span five miles and interconnect a new 230 kV substation on the 2,000-acre solar project site in California’s Imperial Valley. Cupertino Electric will be providing union electrical subcontracting services on the 200 MW solar photovoltaic project.
