ISO New England Announces New Vice Chair of Board of Directors

HOLYOKE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ISO New England Inc., the operator of the region’s bulk power system and wholesale electricity markets, today announced that board member Kathryn J. Jackson, PhD, has been elected Vice Chair of the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. Ms. Jackson has served on the ISO New England board since 2008.

Ms. Jackson currently serves on two ISO New England board committees: the System Planning and Reliability Committee (SPARC), which is responsible for overseeing the Regional System Plan process and making recommendations on planning and reliability issues; and the Compensation and Human Resources Committee, which she chairs.

Since 2009, Ms. Jackson has been the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Westinghouse Electric Company. Before this, she served the company as Vice President of Strategy, Research, and Technology. Before joining Westinghouse Electric, she spent 17 years at the Tennessee Valley Authority, where she held various executive positions, including Executive Vice President, River System Operations and Environment. Dr. Jackson also worked for Alcoa Inc. She serves on the advisory committees of the Sloan Foundation's Electricity Industry Center and Carnegie Mellon University's Institute for Complex Engineered Systems.

Ms. Jackson holds a PhD in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University; two masters degrees, one from Carnegie Mellon and another from the University of Pittsburgh; and a bachelor of science degree in physics from Grove City College, Grove City, Pennsylvania.
