DENVER--()--Novinda Corporation today announced that Thomas Gale has joined the company as Director of Technology Development. Dr. Gale brings over 20 years of experience directing research operations in combustion, gasification, and chemical conversion test environments for exploration and assessment of new technologies on a variety of environmental products addressing NOx, SOx, CO2, and mercury emissions, along with alternative fuels and advanced power systems.
“Thomas brings a wealth of experience in the research, testing and development of air quality products to Novinda”
As Director of Technology Development, Dr. Gale will lead all aspects of the company’s technology development plans for air quality products, supporting the expanded product line and extending the Amended Silicates platform - a reagent for removing mercury from coal-fired plant emissions.
Prior to joining Novinda, Dr. Gale served as the SCR Catalyst Manager and Power Systems Research Manager at Southern Research Institute. He has also worked for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he managed combustion, petroleum, and glass projects for the Office of Industrial Technologies, and worked with the seven clean coal technology programs in DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy.
“Thomas brings a wealth of experience in the research, testing and development of air quality products to Novinda,” said Ed Williams, CEO of Novinda. “We are honored to have him join our team and look forward to his contributions as we continue our efforts to bring the most technologically advanced air quality products to market.”
Novinda pioneered the concept of a reagent for removing mercury with chemical reactions, rather than through adsorption technologies, enabling a more economical, consistent, and robust performance across a variety of power-plant configurations and operating conditions. Because the reagent contains no carbon, the fly ash (a residue from burning coal) can be recycled into concrete, gypsum, and other by-products, providing a cost-effective solution to the fly ash disposal problem.
About Novinda Corp.
Novinda was formed in 2009 as a spin out of CH2M HILL to commercialize environmental technologies for the power utility industry. In 2011, Novinda introduced its first product - Amended Silicates a high-performance, economically attractive, mercury control product for coal-fired power plants. In 2012, Amended Silicates was named Product of the Year by Environmental Protection Magazine, in the Air Quality and Climate category. For more information visit www.novinda.com.
