SAN DIEGO--()--Balboa Park Conservancy has appointed Gordon Kovtun and Stephen Lew to its 10-member board of directors.

“Both Gordon and Stephen bring extensive community involvement, as well as valuable skills and experience that will benefit our efforts to serve Balboa Park,” said Carol Chang, board president of Balboa Park Conservancy. “As we forge ahead with our mission, their deep knowledge of and appreciation for Balboa Park makes them perfect additions to the board.”
Gordon Kovtun is the founder of KCM Group, a full-service construction management company serving residential, commercial and institutional clients. He has more than 25 years of experience in various construction-related arenas. Kovtun is active in the San Diego community, previously serving as treasurer for both the San Diego Museum of Man and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. Currently, he serves as the Consul to Norway for San Diego and Imperial Counties, and in 2012 was awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit for his exemplary service. He was also recognized by San Diego Magazine as one of the “50 People to Watch” in 2013.

Stephen Lew is vice president of investments and business operations at S. Lew & Associates, Inc., a commercial real estate firm active throughout the western United States. Previously, he served the City of San Diego as director of community outreach and business relations for former Mayor Jerry Sanders. In that capacity, he oversaw the mayor’s agenda in the community and was responsible for engaging constituents in initiatives, policies and projects. Also, Lew focused on working with the mayor’s Economic Growth Services Team and cultivated relationships with business organizations representing San Diego’s diverse economic sectors. Lew is currently a trustee for the Lew Family Foundation and sits on the board of both the Pacific Arts Movement and Asian Business Association.
“The Conservancy has a strong, admirable vision for the immediate maintenance and long-term sustainability of Balboa Park,” said Lew. “As a life-long San Diegan, it is a tremendous honor to join a dynamic board that is deeply committed to this essential part of San Diego’s local and national identity.”
