IMS Receives Jerry G. Peers Distinguished Service Award from AORN

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) has presented its annual Jerry G. Peers Distinguished Service Award to the surgical device management and clinical consulting company IMS (Integrated Medical Systems International, Inc.).

Presenting the award to IMS CEO and Founder Gene Robinson, AORN President Deb Spratt thanked the company for the more than 15 years IMS has supported the vision and mission of AORN – helping operating room nurses uphold best practices, patient safety and professional development.

“The CEO of this organization has built a culture that encourages each employee to participate in AORN activities locally and nationally,” Spratt said. “The sales associates of this company provide their support, time and knowledge to enhance the mission of AORN.”

With more than 40,000 registered nurse members, AORN provides nursing education, standards, and clinical practice resources to enable optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. IMS is a longtime supporter of the AORN Foundation, which helps fund those efforts.

Accepting the award before several thousand AORN members gathered for the annual AORN Congress, a surprised Robinson, a former AORN Foundation board member, said he was humbled to be honored by the healthcare professionals who have played such a large role in his company’s mission.

“Our desire is to serve nurses and what they do,” Robinson said of IMS, which began as a surgical device repair company and now touches every stage in the cycle of surgical instrument management.

In addition to supporting AORN nationally and locally, IMS has partnered with AORN in support of Mercy Ships, a global charity that provides life-changing surgeries to thousands of needy children and adults each year on its hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. Through the non-profit organization Instruments of Mercy, IMS has refurbished surgical devices and instruments on the ship and is providing financial assistance for surgical nurses to volunteer on the ship.
