BARRINGTON, Ill.--()--The Barrington Concours d’Elegance will host 10 public events in 2013 to celebrate the history of the automobile, centered around the 7th annual Barrington Concours d’Elegance, which will be held July 12-14, 2013. Located on the rolling greens of the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Ill, this year’s event will feature 100 of the world’s finest and rarest vehicles, as well as special displays. Concours proceeds will benefit the Barrington Area Conservation Trust.

“The Barrington Concours d’Elegance is honored to host a preview of several important cars from the Avoins Voisins exhibition at the Mullin Automotive Museum this year,” said David Cooper, Concours Co-Chair and Chief Executive Officer. “It will be the first time that these special vehicles have been shown in the Midwest. We’ll also have an exceptional exhibit of Duesenbergs, one of the most exquisite American cars ever made. These feature exhibits, along with our Indy Cars, Porsche 911s, Corvettes, Mini Cars, Muscle Cars, Vincent motorcycles and other extraordinary vehicles, promise to make the 2013 Barrington Concours our most significant show to date.”
The Concours will feature 12 classes of collectible cars and motorcycles across every time period and style from private collectors around the globe. Special exhibits will include:
- An extraordinary assembly of Duesenbergs featuring renowned authority, Randy Ema
- An Indy Car exhibit with the assistance of race driver Bobby Rahal, as well as Don Devine
- A celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the 911 with rare Porsches made possible through the Porsche museum in Germany
- A special showcase for the 50th Anniversary of the Corvette with several rare Corvettes
- A collection of antique military vehicles
“I’m thrilled with the direction that our show is taking for 2013,” said Patty Dowd Schmitz, Concours Co-Chair and Chief Operating Officer. “We’ve significantly increased the quality of our field of vehicles. And the special events planned will ensure that this year’s Concours is the most enjoyable yet for our exhibitors, sponsors, VIPs and guests.”
The Concours will also honor several key individuals for their contributions to the automotive world. Special awards will be bestowed to Randy Ema (one of the world’s foremost authorities on Auburns, Cords and Duesenbergs), auto designer and pioneer Bob McKee and car builder Bob Shaw. Lou Natenshon, Pat Morse, Carl Edwards and Bill Siegfriedt are being honored for their longtime work in organizing the Auto Historica in Highland Park.
All net proceeds are directed to the Legends & Legacies Foundation. The Foundation directs proceeds to local charities, and in 2013, the primary beneficiary will be the Barrington Area Conservation Trust, which works to preserve and protect open space in the Barrington area. The Concours has over 50 corporate and individual sponsors; the four “Founding Sponsors” are Motor Werks of Barrington, Makray Memorial Golf Club, Northern Trust and the Stephen B. Smith Family.
The Concours weekend begins on Saturday, July 13, with a Road Rally featuring a 40-mile drive through the countryside followed by a picnic lunch. On Saturday evening, the Concours will host a charity gala benefit for the Barrington Area Conservation Trust at the Barrington Hills Country Club. Sunday brings the Barrington Concours d’Elegance opening at 11:00 a.m. Following the 2:30 p.m. Awards Ceremony, the event closes with a private VIP cocktail hour.
