PHOENIX--()--CTS North America, a market leader in branch automation solutions for the financial services industry, announced during BAI Payments Connect 2013 the launch of ClearPIXTM, a middleware product that improves human readability and Courtesy Amount Recognition (CAR) scoring when processing money orders and other non-conforming items captured using CTS scanners.
“Because of the limitations of traditional scanners and software, financial institutions typically defer money orders, WIC vouchers, and similar items for manual processing. This is an expensive and error-prone process”
CTS’ ClearPIX features a set of advanced algorithms that enhance accuracy and image quality when processing difficult-to-read items, such as money orders, WIC vouchers and postal orders. Using a patented process, ClearPIX automatically recognizes the item-type of a scanned document and then applies the proper algorithms to reduce background noise and enhance the contrast on foreground objects, such as the courtesy amount. The enhanced image is then converted bi-tonally and passed to the image capture platform for CAR/LAR processing. ClearPIX can improve CAR scores up to 200 percent or more. Additionally, up to 99 percent of all ClearPIX-enhanced items are human-readable.
Using ClearPIX, institutions can:
- Significantly reduce the number of items that must be manually proofed
- Speed manual proofing where necessary (due to improved human readability)
- Significantly reduce CAR mis-reads, saving time and money on downstream repair
- Store excellent images for archiving and research (in small black and white file size)
“Because of the limitations of traditional scanners and software, financial institutions typically defer money orders, WIC vouchers, and similar items for manual processing. This is an expensive and error-prone process,” said Glen Fossella, COO of CTS North America. “For institutions handling large numbers of these items, ClearPIX is a game-changer that positively impacts branch workflow and eliminates significant hard costs.”
ClearPIX seamlessly integrates with all CAR engines and may be used with any CTS scanner. In conjunction with ClearPIX, CTS’ wide range of scanners provides unrivaled durability and features. From compact remote deposit scanners to multi-functional branch/teller models through streamlined back-office and high-volume remittance devices, the CTS family of scanners are engineered to add efficiency across the entire banking enterprise.
