Consumers May Be Eligible for Up to a $300 Tax Credit for Purchasing Mitsubishi Electric Cooling and Heating Systems

SUWANEE, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Consumers who made energy-efficient upgrades to their homes in 2012 could find themselves paying less in federal taxes. On January 2, 2013, Congress passed The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, which retroactively renewed the federal tax credit for homeowners who install qualified, high-efficiency, energy-saving products in their homes between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2013.

Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division, America’s No. 1 manufacturer of ductless cooling and heating technology, is pleased to announce that 27 system combinations of its energy-efficient lines of ductless cooling and heating systems qualify for the tax credit. Eligible homeowners can receive a tax credit of 10 percent of the cost up to $300 for qualifying Mitsubishi Electric systems.

The tax credit was initially passed in 2006 but was allowed to expire on December 31, 2011. Its reinstatement will benefit thousands of households in the U.S. who installed Mitsubishi Electric equipment in 2012 and will potentially benefit thousands more qualifying households in 2013.

Mitsubishi Electric systems qualify for the credit because they exceed the efficiency standards outlined in the bill, sometimes by as much as 60 percent.
