“AMERICAN IDOL” to Showcase DreamWorks Animation’s Comedy “THE CROODS” on March 14

LOS ANGELES--()--AMERICAN IDOL finalists will perform the single “Shine Your Way,” from the motion picture soundtrack for DreamWorks Animation’s 3D comedy adventure for the entire family, THE CROODS, during the results show airing tonight, Thursday, March 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The original track, written by Alan Silvestri, Glen Ballard and the film’s directors, Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco, is performed by Republic Records’ multi-platinum recording artist Owl City and Verve Records artist Yuna.

THE CROODS opens nationwide on March 22, 2013.

Relativity Music Group will release the music from the original motion picture soundtrack on March 19, three days before the film opens in theatres. Two-time Academy Award®-nominated composer Alan Silvestri produced and composed the score, which also includes “Smash and Grab” and a sample of “Tusk” performed with the USC Trojan Marching Band. THE CROODS soundtrack is available now for pre-order at iTunes®.

Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman and Clark Duke star in THE CROODS, which follows the world's first modern family through the journey of a lifetime. When the cave that has always been their home is destroyed – with the rest of their world not far behind it – the Croods are forced to set off on the first family road (or path) trip. Rocked by generational clashes and seismic shifts, the Croods discover an incredible new world filled with fantastic creatures, and a future beyond any they imagined.

The directors are Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco, and the screenplay is written by Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders, from a story by John Cleese, Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders. The producers are Kristine Belson and Jane Hartwell.
