Versus Capital Hires Three Proven Leaders, Establishing a National RIA Distribution Team

Jake Mortell, Michael Miller and Spencer Schomer, join Versus Capital to expand distribution and provide service to the RIA community. 

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Versus Capital Advisors, LLC, a mutual fund manager focused on building and managing multi-manager real estate and alternative investment solutions, announced today the formation of a distribution team dedicated to the RIA channel.

Jake Mortell joins Versus Capital as National Director of Advisory Services after providing RIA-focused sales and marketing consulting to Versus Capital since early 2012. Mr. Mortell has 15 years of industry experience, including 10 years dedicated to the RIA channel. He has represented numerous asset managers to RIAs through his own firm, Candlewood Advisory Partners, LLC and previously with Sincere & Company, LLC. Mr. Mortell will serve as team leader and have responsibility for the Western region.

Michael Miller has over 22 years of industry experience and joins Versus Capital from Cohen & Steers, Inc. where he was Vice President, RIA Sales Manager with responsibility for the Midwest region. Prior to Cohen & Steers, Mr. Miller built relationships with RIAs for Legg Mason and Westcore Funds. Mr. Miller will continue to cover the Midwest for Versus Capital as Regional Director of Advisory Services.

Spencer Schomer joins Versus Capital as Regional Director of Advisory Services covering the Eastern region. He was most recently a Vice President at Cambiar Investors responsible for new business development and client relations with RIAs and bank trust departments. Before moving to the sales side of the asset management industry, Mr. Schomer spent six years as investment analyst for Prima Capital and Northern Trust.
