ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--()--There’s a Color Mob5K coming to Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta Park. And it’s going to be a wild rainbow of fun events.
What’s a Color Mob? Well, first of all it’s vibrant - with literally tons of color created from colored cornstarch and tossed on participants along the route, to brilliantly create streaming abstract art in motion.
Second, it’s a 5k run, with runners encouraged to wear unique outfits - white may work best, when color coated. Join the racing party. The event was inspired by the Festival of Colors, or Holi event celebrating the beginning of spring in India and Nepal. ColorMob is a combination of Holi Festival, music filled party, and a race. Albuquerque participants will find a variety of local food trucks purveying delicious eats from burgers to baked goods, a beer garden at both the race’s starting and ending points, and local DJ’s spinning great tunes.
This vibrant event is set for March 30, 2013 from 1:00pm until 6:00pm, mountain time. Who should attend? People who inhabit living-color lives, think outside the box, and play outside it, too. Outgoing, enthusiastic, fun loving, looking-for-something-different? Color Mob is the event to choose.
Run, walk, skip, flip, cartwheel or jump through the most eye catching 5k ever taken, stay for the party, dust off the color, and talk about the fun. Participants can register at www.colormob5k.com. All ages are welcome, with ages seven and under free. The run’s un-timed - everyone’s a colorful winner.
Volunteers are welcome, too, and will receive a free tee-shirt and bandana to help with color tossing and event registration.
And Color Mob is partnering with local non-profits. Participants who’d like to collect $10 per ticket for their organization or charity can register through Eventbrite for Color Mob’s affiliate program. The details on this referral program are up at www.facebook.com/colormob. The affiliate program provides a personalized link to send to supporters for registration. And Color Mob starts the charitable ball rolling by donating $10 automatically for every person who signs up for the run through this personalized link. Using the promo code ABQgivesBack, cause supporters can register for the race for only $30 - and organizations will still receive that $10 sign-up bonus, up to the first hundred sign-ups. Payments to organizations are made via PayPal.
Color Mob brings Albuquerque a fantastically vivid way to spend a March afternoon - run, play, party - and give back to the community, too.
