KISTA, Sweden--(Proximion AB, a world-class provider of optical modules and sub-systems based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technology, today announced the launch of the new 16-port WISTOM, the latest addition to its optical monitoring product line. The 16-port WISTOM is the technology-leading Optical Layer Monitor (OLM), designed to measure channel power, frequency, OSNR, wavelength drift, line-width & capacity utilization of 16 DWDM ports.)--
Service providers continuously strive to minimize the total cost of ownership by deriving the maximum value from the network assets with the least operational effort. This is achieved by a colorless, directionless, and contentionless optical system design approach. The new 16-port WISTOM provides all the critical functionality for network monitoring and optimization of these networks. Due to its independency of channel plan, channel grid, modulation format and data rate the new 16-port WISTOM is also truly future proof.
“We are proud to introduce the 16-port WISTOM that not only has twice the number of ports to competing subsystems, it is also the only subsystem that scans the complete C-band in less than 0.1 milliseconds and reports channel specific problems with a response time of less than 10 milliseconds, while simultaneously measuring all key optical parameters”, says Adel Asseh, VP Product Management at Proximion.
The first 16-port WISTOM products are shipped to customers already this month. The previous 8-port WISTOM has been shipped in volume to a number of Tier-1 system providers over the last three years. Proximion will showcase the new 16-port WISTOM at this year’s OFC/NFOEC conference in Anaheim, March 19-21, in booth #3712.
About Proximion AB
Proximion AB is a world-class provider of optical modules and sub-systems based on Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technology. By combining these unique optical devices with the truly innovative skills of our team, Proximion contributes to our customers’ and partners’ success in a variety of markets.
As an example, Proximion today holds the markets widest FBG-based portfolio of Dispersion Compensation Modules (DCM). The portfolio ranges from single channel modules to complex continuous band modules which are used to eliminate the residual dispersion in Submarine Networks or to enable powerful and cost effective dispersion compensation in coherent systems.
Proximion has pioneered the design, manufacturing, and application of advanced FBGs. Proximion’s unique and patented method enables manufacturing of FBGs with virtually any filter characteristics. Proximion is a privately held company headquartered in Kista, Sweden.
