NOVATO, Calif.--()--Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company today announced a national celebration of its 150th Anniversary that includes a traveling exhibit of historic items from the company’s rich history.
“Fireman’s Fund played a pivotal role helping Chicago and San Francisco rebuild”
Founded in San Francisco in 1863, Fireman’s Fund is celebrating a long and colorful history that is intertwined with some of the nation’s most significant events. Today, to commemorate its 150th Anniversary, Fireman’s Fund debuted a historical timeline that chronicles the company’s involvement in those events, which include the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, the San Francisco Earthquake in 1906 and the construction of the Hoover Dam in 1931.
The time line can be seen online here: www.firemansfundtimeline.com
“Fireman’s Fund played a pivotal role helping Chicago and San Francisco rebuild,” said Jim Lazarus, President of San Francisco Museum and Historical Society. “The company insured many iconic American building projects like the construction of Charles Lindbergh’s airplane, the Spirit of St. Louis, in 1927, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Hoover Dam, and the rehabilitation and cleaning of the Statue of Liberty in the 1980’s.”
The company has a long history of innovation and was the first company to offer nationwide auto insurance, standard homeowners insurance and airplane insurance. More recently, Fireman’s Fund was the first company to offer green building coverage for structures designed to have smaller, more sustainable environmental footprints. Fireman’s Fund continues this tradition today, and is focused on maintaining its role as an expert provider of specialized insurance solutions for years to come.
All of these milestones – and many more – will be celebrated via a traveling exhibit that includes displays of historic photographs, artifacts and items from the vibrant past. The exhibit will make stops at 8 cities around the country and will put on view items of particular interest to each area.
“Our 150th Anniversary is a great opportunity for Fireman’s Fund to share our history and our stories with the nation,” said Lori Fouché, President and CEO of Fireman’s Fund. “It’s also a great chance to reflect on our own past and to let the remarkable, historic events to which this company is inextricably bound inspire us to even greater feats now and in the future.”
The Fireman’s Fund 150th Anniversary Traveling Exhibit will stop at the following cities over the next several months:
- San Francisco - April 4-5
- Seattle – May 15
- Minneapolis - May 21
