Thousands Attend Cornerstone Church's Ark Grand Opening

SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Approximately 20,000 people attended the unveiling of the newest addition to Cornerstone Church, a 28,400-square-foot Noah’s Ark inspired building on Saturday, March 16.

Several hundred people were in line to experience The Ark firsthand, before the public event even began, and the line continued to grow into thousands within the first hour. The line, which wrapped around the building, stayed constant for the entirety of the four-hour opening. The event offered continuous tours, a carousel and other rides, puppet shows, moon bounces, live music, face painting and clown balloon artists. Fair-inspired food, including hot dogs, roasted corn, kettle corn and cotton candy was served.

The Ark boasts true-to-size animatronics animals, custom-designed wall murals, synthetic trees and grasses, LED shooting stars, custom wood-plank carpeting and more. The building will host the church’s Sunday school, Mother’s Day Out and other children’s programs. With its unique, stimulating and larger-than-life elements, the Ark experience truly brings to life the famed Bible story.

The Discovery Channel even showed interest in Cornerstone’s newest addition, as Nancy Glass Productions, a film company, filmed a portion of their documentary for the Discovery Channel on site at The Ark. The documentary is based on Jim Boulden of Animal Makers, who created the animated animal replicas for the building. The animatronics animals include a 20’ tall giraffe, a 10’x16’ elephant, a lion, a rhinoceros, a zebra, a sheep, an ostrich and more.
