CH2M HILL Selected to Provide Project Management Consultancy Services for the Iraq Common Seawater Supply Project

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CH2M HILL (www.ch2mhill.com), a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, announces that the company was selected by South Oil Company (SOC) of Iraq to provide project management consultancy services for the Iraq Common Seawater Supply Project. The contract is to manage the approximately US$3.5 to $4 billion Phase 1 of the Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP), which involves the treatment, transmission, and distribution of 5.2 million barrels of water per day of seawater. The ultimate build-out capacity of the facility is anticipated to be approximately 12.5 million barrels of water per day.

The CSSP is considered a critical infrastructure project by the Iraq Government and the Ministry of Oil because it will provide much needed injection water to the oil fields of southern Iraq. The oil fields will use the seawater for enhanced oil recovery, where water is injected into the reservoir, allowing for increased oil production. The project officially started in January and is scheduled to be ready for operations in mid 2017, after which CH2M HILL will provide continued services and support through operations and maintenance (O&M).

Over the course of the project, CH2M HILL will manage the following work:

• High priority pre- front-end engineering site surveys

• Environmental, safety, and health impact assessment

• Front-end engineering design

• Construction packages for site preparation and non-process buildings

• Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages for the process, power plant, pumping facilities, and pipelines
