How to Use EON

What Is EON?

EON stands for Enhanced Online News.

Through the Press Release Builder, keyword analysis and press release optimization tools built into the EON website, we'll help you craft a press release that's aimed at two audiences:

  • Search engine robots
  • Real live people who search for news online

In other words, we'll help you build a press release with the goal of having it served up (indexed) by major search engines. We'll also make sure you don't forget about your human readers by stuffing too many keywords and links into your press release. However, the primary goal is to optimize your press release for search engines.

How Does It Work?

First you write your press release. Our Press Release Builder walks you through each individual section of your press release and provides tips on how to effectively word and format the content. For example, using the appropriate headline length will increase the visual impact of your press release when indexed by Google. Google only displays the first 63 characters in their search engine results.

Keyword analysis in EON

Next, you come up with a list of keywords (individual words or phrases) that are likely to be used to find your release online. For example, if someone were planning a vacation to Maui and needed a place to stay, he or she might type the words "Maui," "vacation," "condo" and "best rates" for their search engine query. Therefore, "Maui," "vacation," "condo" and "best rates" are the keywords you should be optimizing your press release for. Why? These are the keywords that your customers or potential customers are using to locate your indexed web pages online. Keyword selection is a key part of press release optimization.

Once you identify your keywords, you will go through a keyword analysis step. You will have access to a keyword database that provides daily search statistics for the keywords you select. Based on the database results, you'll refine your keyword list and use these chosen keywords to optimize your press release text. You want to reinforce the selected keywords throughout your press release to increase the chances of being found by readers searching for content that matches the products and services you're offering.

Sound easy? It is. Just think of your press release as an individual web page. When the search engine robots navigate around the web looking for new or updated web pages, a primary goal is for your press release to be indexed and ultimately, appear in the list of search results customers or potential customers are being served up. You accomplish this by creating a relationship between the keywords that the "searcher" is using and the press release content that you are providing. This, in a nutshell, is press release optimization.

Links and Images

And it's not just about the keywords. We've also provided the ability to add hyperlinks, add HTML formatting and embed images. Adding links and graphics further increases the probability of your press release coming up in search results. These features also make the experience of reading your release much more interesting for your human audience.

Follow the helpful tips on this site and soon you'll be building a press release that's not only search engine friendly, but that also gets found, seen and shared by the millions of people conducting online search queries each day.
