University Lab Technologies Files Patent for Zenstral PMS

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--University Lab Technologies announced today the filing with the United States patent office for Zenstral PMS, a product for the treatment of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS).

“We feel that there is a significant opportunity for our Zenstral PMS™ product as many women want either a safer, simpler alternative to prescription medication for the treatment of PMS, or more symptomatic relief than OTC drugs which primarily provide relief for symptoms such as pain and bloating.”

Today's announcement follows the recent ARTHOLEVE ULT patent and marks the second of several patents the company has planned for the evidence based nutraceutical products in its product development pipeline.

Dr. Jarret Morrow, President and Chief Scientific Officer, was quoted as saying: "We believe that our second patent submission represents our continuing commitment to our mission of identifying, researching, and patenting formulations which are comprised of natural compounds that have clinically proven efficacy. Our second patent filing underscores our mission to deliver pharmaceutical grade nutraceutical products which utilize our advanced Slick Cap Technology to provide the optimal absorption mechanism for the key ingredients in our products."

Of the 66.3 million U.S. women of reproductive age, studies have found that 20%-30% of these women suffer from PMS. An additional percentage of these women suffer from PMS related symptoms. This represents at least a target market of approximately 13-20 million women for our Zenstral product. Currently the marketplace for PMS products is comprised of either prescription medication geared towards hormonal manipulation, or antidepressants to address the psychological symptoms of PMS.

Currently the OTC market is dominated by products which generally contain drugs such as acetaminophen, pyrilamine maleate (an antihistamine), and pamabrom (a diuretic). In contrast, our revolutionary Zenstral PMS represents a natural alternative comprised of clinically proven ingredients which relieves not only the physical symptoms, but also the emotional symptoms of PMS, without any significant side effects.

Common symptoms of PMS include psychological symptoms such as irritability, depression, anxiety, impulsivity, mood instability, as well as numerous physical symptoms such as bloating, headache, and breast tenderness. Some women may have an exacerbation of existing conditions such as epilepsy, asthma, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, or migraine headache during specific phases of their menstrual cycles. Many women have reported increases in arguing with family and friends as well as absenteeism from work due to premenstrual symptoms. Due to the diverse and often distressing nature of the symptoms, patients may consult a variety of clinicians including primary care physicians, gynecologists, psychiatrists, or other specialties.

Dr. Morrow went on to say: "We feel that there is a significant opportunity for our Zenstral PMS product as many women want either a safer, simpler alternative to prescription medication for the treatment of PMS, or more symptomatic relief than OTC drugs which primarily provide relief for symptoms such as pain and bloating."
