Christien Okoroafor Recognized by Cambridge Whos Who for Contributions to the Field of Elderly and Handicapped Care

CEO of Silver Springs The Angels Launches Transportation Services for Clients

SILVER SPRING, Md.--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--Christien Okoroafor, chief executive officer of The Angels Home Health Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Whos Who for her contributions to the field of elderly and handicapped care in Silver Spring. Okoroafor, an honored member of Cambridge Whos Who, is a compassionate and dedicated individual who provides a much-needed service to community residents.

“Throughout my career, I have seen the long waits people were forced to tolerate simply to reach a doctor’s office. I knew that incorporating transportation services into my already existing operation would be greatly valued by my clients”

Okoroafor, a licensed practical nurse with 15 years of experience in the healthcare field, established The Angels in January 2006. The Angels provides a coordinated system of healthcare services in a persons residence to promote, maintain and/or restore health and minimize the effects of illness and disability. Okoroafor soon realized that in addition to home healthcare services, the elderly and handicapped would significantly benefit from a service that could transport them to and from doctor visits. Throughout my career, I have seen the long waits people were forced to tolerate simply to reach a doctors office. I knew that incorporating transportation services into my already existing operation would be greatly valued by my clients, said Okoroafor. Shortly thereafter, Okoroafor turned her vision into a reality. It couldnt have worked out better, she said.

Okoroafor began her career in the healthcare field in 1992 as a home health aide for District of Columbia General Hospital. After one elderly woman I was caring for urged me to return to school, Okoroafor remembers, I enrolled at Regency School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. and received my LPN license 18 months later. Over the next decade, Okoroafor worked at various healthcare facilities, including MedStar Health and Hospital for Sick Children in Washington, D.C., where she honed her nursing skills. Then, says Okoroafor, I realized that I had the necessary nursing experience to open my own home health agency. I could provide clients with well-trained and experienced registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, geriatric nursing assistants, and home health aids. For clients, The Angels is Godsent.
