Light Blue Optics Demonstrates Miniature Projection Systems at SID 2007 with Ultra-Wide Throw Angle and Significant Advances in Speckle Reduction
**Systems Feature Ultra-Wide Throw Angle Greater Than 90º and Internal Speckle Reduction**
**Engineering Samples Available from July 2007**
CAMBRIDGE, England--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--Light Blue Optics (LBO) today announced it will show a range of miniature projection systems at the Society for Information Display (SID 2007). The systems demonstrate the ultra-wide throw angle (greater than 90º) capabilities of LBO’s patented holographic laser projection technology, and feature significant advances in speckle reduction. This news follows LBO’s recent announcement of an exclusive development partnership with microdisplay manufacturer Displaytech, and a joint development agreement with Thales, the world-class aerospace & defence company.
Engineering Samples of LBO’s miniature projection systems will be made available from July 2007 to key customers and strategic partners interested in developing products based on the company’s holographic laser projection technology. LBO’s systems project large, full colour, high-quality video images that remain in focus at all distances and are ideal for deployment in a range of markets including consumer electronics, automotive and digital signage. Only LBO’s novel approach to projection can simultaneously deliver a unique combination of features: ultra-wide throw angle, in-built speckle reduction, infinite focus, low power consumption, and a robust design with no moving parts that lends itself to miniaturisation and low cost manufacture.
Light Blue Optics’ CEO, Dr Chris Harris said, “LBO set out to tackle the two biggest remaining challenges in laser projection – achieving a wide throw angle without compromising image quality, and reducing laser speckle within the projection device without requiring any moving parts. At SID 2007, we will demonstrate that our miniature projection systems meet these challenges. This event marks an important milestone on our fast-paced technology roadmap and takes us closer to our goal of being the world's leading supplier of miniature projection systems.”
