PrettyTough.com Celebrates Girls and Women in Sports
New Website Gives Sporty Girls Online Turf
LOS ANGELES--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--Pretty Tough LLC, has made it their mission to empower girls and young women to excel in athletics while remaining true to their feminine self. In keeping with that mission this lifestyle brand and online community has re-launched their website www.prettytough.com. Filled with new and vintage sports-related videos, music, profiles on women athletes, fashion and beauty products, and a book club (Pretty Tough has a new novel series) this website is teaching girls that being pretty and tough are NOT mutually exclusive.
“Whenever my daughters searched for videos on Youtube or MySpace they were always disappointed. Footage on female athletes competing was difficult to find”
What has set PrettyTough.com apart from other social networking sites is their compilation of extraordinary videos of female athletes and coaches. From daredevils in action, motorsports, soapbox, motocross and bmx, to female super stars in surf and skateboard, softball, basketball, tennis, soccer, and gymnastics, there is something for everyone. Some of these amazing videos are of their very own Pretty Tough Team, a group of young 36 female athletes they sponsor from all areas of sport disciplines.
“Whenever my daughters searched for videos on Youtube or MySpace they were always disappointed. Footage on female athletes competing was difficult to find,” said Founder Jane Schonberger. “We wanted to create a forum where female athletes can share experiences and support one another. Videos are just another way to do that.” Girls can upload their own videos or search the various PrettyTough TV channels. It’s no longer necessary to paw through piles of junk to find the good stuff.
A constant news feed spotlights current women’s matches, wins, awards, competitions, sports camps and noteworthy happenings. PrettyTough.com also boasts a new celebrity profile every month to reveal their athletic and sporty side. We all know Queen Latifah for hip hop and comedic performances, but back in high school this power forward helped her basketball team win two championships. Ashanti, known for her musical range, was a teenage track and field star, excelling in the 100 and 200 meter events, before hitting her musical stride.
Another site highlight is the Sports A-Z section of over 60 sports, from the usual suspects to the more obscure fishing, netball and ringette. Each sport features calendars, personalities, training tips and trivia. And the Health and Fitness pages give tips for making workouts more effective and efficient, while discussing weight, and nutrition.
Although it may be the multiple services and information PettyTough.com provides that brings girls to the site, it is the sense of belonging and community that keeps them coming back. With its newly launched blogs and forums young women from all sports arenas who love to play hard, compete and succeed, are reinforced and encouraged.
