PrepMasters CEO Suki Reed Teaches ‘Train-the-Trainer Skills’ to Geeks at MCT Summit
REDMOND, Wash.--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--Microsoft’s Certified Trainer Summit, held on North American soil for the first time in over seven years, conquered stereotypes by focusing on advanced training skills during a program aimed at self-professed tech geeks and nerds (AKA highly skilled, top-of-their-field experts).
“Many trainers are good at working with mid-sized classes, but they sometimes have difficulty communicating with large groups of 50 or more. Or they might struggle when they have to teach one-on-one or with very small groups. We teach them the secrets of presenting to and training the full spectrum.”
“We train the trainers,” said Suki Reed, featured speaker at the April event and CEO of PrepMasters in Irvine, California. “Many trainers are good at working with mid-sized classes, but they sometimes have difficulty communicating with large groups of 50 or more. Or they might struggle when they have to teach one-on-one or with very small groups. We teach them the secrets of presenting to and training the full spectrum.”
Reed’s animated and people-friendly lectures were well-attended and struck a sharp contrast to a schedule that included such talks as “Exchange Server 2007 Storage and Design” and “Configuring Windows Vista Applications and Tools.”
Reed educated trainers on “Secrets of Adult Learning and Leadership.”
“I enjoyed the people tremendously,” she said. “The audience response was very positive, and I’ll definitely be speaking at future summits.”
The 2007 MCT Summit was held near Microsoft world headquarters in Redmond, Washington, after previous stops in such locations as Zurich, Switzerland, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The title “MCT” is a gold standard in the IT industry, signifying that the individual has received the highest quality training from the most qualified Microsoft Certified Trainers in the world. It generally leads to higher salaries and better jobs.
Reed has been involved with adult education for almost 20 years. She was awarded "Teacher of the Year" at LTU of Corinthian Colleges and holds a BS in Education Technology with honors from University of Wisconsin and a TESL teaching certificate from the University of California Irvine. She also qualifies as a “geek” herself, holding premier certifications in CTT+, MCT, MCSE, CCNA, A+, Network+, i-Net+ and Train-the-Trainer.
The presentation portion of the MCT is difficult and has a high failure rate. Reed and her team at PrepMasters prepare trainers to pass the test through intensive Train-the-Trainer workshops in presentation and classroom management skills, available through e-learning or in Irvine, California.
