NetQoS Announces Program for Eighth Annual Network Performance Management Technology Conference
NetQoS Customers, Partners, and Industry Experts to Discuss Best Practices for Delivering Applications across Increasingly Complex Global Networks
AUSTIN, Texas--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--Seeking the latest information and best practices for managing application performance across increasingly complex global networks, IT professionals from all industries will converge on Austin for the 8th Annual NetQoS Symposium. Under the theme of “Performance First,” the Symposium will take place April 20-23, 2008, at the Barton Creek Conference Center and Resort.
“The Evolving Role of the Network Operations Center”
With a focus on optimizing the network infrastructure and managing application performance across the network, NetQoS Symposium 2008 will feature network performance best practices, enhanced product training, hands-on labs, and vendor-neutral technical training. Session topics will cover timely issues related to networking theory and best practices, MPLS, VoIP, QoS, WAN optimization, change management, packet-level forensics, and more.
Keynote presentations include:
Monday, April 21:
8:30 – 9:30 a.m.: Why Networks Fail (and Why the Role of the Network Engineer Is Secure), Joel Trammell, CEO, NetQoS. Device failures are a well understood cause of network down time, but what issues cause performance failures? In this keynote, Mr. Trammell will discuss some of the common incidents that occur in enterprise networks and how to set up the appropriate monitoring approach to identify these problems as rapidly as possible.
9:45 – 10:45 a.m.: Next Generation Network Operations, Dr. Jim Metzler, vice president of Ashton, Metzler & Associates and author of the recently published “2008 Handbook of Application Delivery.” During his presentation, Dr. Metzler will debut original research titled “The Evolving Role of the Network Operations Center” and discuss what it will take to move to a next-generation “Integrated Operations Center.”
Tuesday, April 22:
8:30 – 9:30 a.m.: Transforming an IT Organization for Application Delivery: A Case Study and Panel Discussion, Carl Dohnoski, CIO, PSS World Medical (Moderator: Dr. Jim Metzler). In his keynote presentation, Mr. Duhnoski will discuss a case study in organizational realignment designed to break down silos, and he will provide insight into the reactions, results and lessons learned. Following his presentation, Dr. Metzler will moderate a panel discussion on the organizational implications and dynamics of application delivery with Mr. Duhnoski and other IT executives.
Other NetQoS Symposium offerings and activities include:
Cisco IOS® NetFlow Boot Camp Training and Certification: This four-part NetFlow class is designed for network engineers responsible for analyzing network data. Students will learn the terminology, deployment considerations, and how to interpret NetFlow datagrams and perform basic NetFlow analysis.
NetQoS NetAnalyst® Training: This four-part class, which is repeated on Day 2, provides in-depth analysis of communication principles and the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and how they impact application performance. The class is an introduction to the NetQoS NetAnalyst Level I: Network Performance Technologies course offered throughout the year at various locations.
Birds of a Feather Collaborative Sessions: Attendees will choose from among topics such as ITIL Best Practices, Virtualization – Management Considerations, VoIP & Unified Communications Management, WAN Optimization & Application Acceleration Best Practices, and Network Operations.
