Authorized Book on Ubuntu Server Authored by Kyle Rankin and Benjamin Mako Hill with Input from the Ubuntu Server Developer Team

NEW YORK--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Prentice Hall Professional announced today publication of The Official Ubuntu Server Book, a pragmatic guide to managing servers that run on Ubuntu, a Linux-based operating system that has become an increasingly popular choice for data centers and businesses.

The book is authored by Kyle Rankin, a system architect for Quinstreet, Inc., and Benjamin Mako Hill, who was part of the founding Ubuntu team and serves on its Community Council governance board. Rankin will speak at OpenSource World 2009 in San Francisco. (http://www.linuxworldexpo.com/)

Rankin and Hill have organized the book so that it’s both accessible to beginners and valuable as a comprehensive resource for experienced system administrators. They emphasize new programs or features that have been incorporated into the Ubuntu software to help IT professionals save time and cut down on costs.

The book includes CDs with Ubuntu 8.04 Server Edition Long-Term Support (LTS) and the new Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition.

In addition, The Official Ubuntu Server Book has a Barnes & Noble Special Edition, which includes a bonus chapter and Appendix covering some of the core foundation concepts behind Linux administration, and the authors’ favorite time-saving tips and hacks. A bonus DVD contains the Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop Edition Education Remix and Kubuntu 9.04.

The book’s publication coincides with the new 4th Edition of The Official Ubuntu Book, authored by Benjamin Mako Hill, Matthew Helmke and Corey Burger, all expert leading Ubuntu community members, who help consumer-level users to make the most of Ubuntu on the desktop.
