AAAE’s IET Airport Training System: 1
Million Training Sessions And Counting
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Business Wire EON) May 15, 2008 --
Interactive Employee Training
(IET), the patented, customizable, multimedia
training system developed by the American Association of Airport
Executives especially for airports, recently delivered its 1
millionth training session. The milestone, combined with the
fact that IETs have trained some 250,000 individual employees at
more than 80 airports, makes the system one of the most-used and
most successful in civil aviation training.
“We are very proud to have developed a system
that helps so many airports meet the rigorous training requirements in
place today,” said AAAE President Chip
Barclay. “The variety of customers and breadth
of training programs available is a testament to IET’s
versatility. The feedback we get from our airport customers and their
requests for new courses means that the IET program continues to evolve.”
AAAE has delivered some 475 IET workstations to 82 airports.
Courses developed cover key airport operations elements, including
Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) procedures, airfield driver
training, Part 139 regulations, basic airport security awareness, runway
incursion prevention, electric cart driving, customer service, and more.
Courses are available in both English and Spanish.
IETs, which can be funded using Airport Improvement Program (AIP)
or passenger facility charge (PFC) revenue, are customized to
each airport’s specifications. Airports are
involved in both the course development process and creating the
questions for each course’s test. Once the
script is finalized, AAAE’s Airport News and
Training Network (ANTN) team sends a film crew to the airport to shoot
footage that matches the script. Working with the airport, ANTN edits
the video into a complete course, including an interactive test. Courses
are loaded onto computers, delivered to the airport and installed by
AAAE staff.
Each IET workstation is connected to a central database maintained by
AAAE. The secure database stores training records for all individuals
who take IET courses, and makes the records available to authorized
personnel at each airport. This allows airports to comply with
FAA-mandated training and recordkeeping requirements found in FAR Part
139.
