COLLEGEBOXES JOINS STORE TO DOOR; BEEFS UP STUDENT BENEFITS
Adds Starter Kit and Bar-coding, Now Part of Store to Door
Collegeboxes (www.collegeboxes.com),
the nation’s largest and most comprehensive
college storage and moving company, announces operational improvements
as part of its recent acquisition by Store
to Door -- a national mobile self-storage company, owned by serial
entrepreneur Jim Wayman. Through Store to Door, Collegeboxes will
benefit from a patent pending box and bar-coding system, online
tracking, date stamping and other infrastructure improvements.
Commenting on the acquisition, Josh Kowitt, Vice President of Sales and
Marketing says “to improve our operations
Collegeboxes will use Store to Door’s
proprietary bar-coding system, developed and successfully utilized by
Store to Door for over 10 years.” Although
Collegeboxes is already the largest college storage company in the
nation, this opportunity allows Collegeboxes to improve service and add
important customer-focused features.
Wayman said, “The purchase of Collegeboxes
makes sense for Store to Door. As a provider of mobile storage, Store to
Door has been a long standing partner of Collegeboxes. Collegeboxes will
retain its autonomy, identity, systems and operations but will have
access to all of Store to Door’s services and
facilities.” Earlier in his career, Wayman
founded Safesite Records Management Corp. (now Iron Mountain). He is a
seasoned entrepreneur with an eye toward business development and
operations.
The Starter Kit
At the beginning of the storage process, each student receives a Starter
Kit, ordered at www.collegeboxes.com.
Two days later, UPS delivers five large (4.0 cu. ft.) double-walled
Collegeboxes, label pouches, markers, tape and a video showing students
how to build their own boxes. This box kit makes the service simpler and
faster for students, who are no longer required to pick up boxes from a
central location.
About Collegeboxes
Collegeboxes is the largest collegiate shipping and storage provider in
the nation. Originally the subject of a class project at Duke
University, Collegeboxes was created as a solution to the inadequate
storage options available to students. Today, the company has 50 schools
as customers and provides services such as Ship to School, Study
Abroad and Summer Storage. Through the company’s
commitment to technology and comprehensive recruitment of talented on
and off campus managers, Collegeboxes has developed an efficient system
to provide shipping and storage services. Service highlights include
online registration, account management, bar-coding, toll-free customer
support and door-to-door pickup and delivery.
