DataPoint Achieves Record First-Quarter Results
Capital Improvements and Superior Solutions Drive Growth in
Baltimore
BALTIMORE, Md. (Business Wire EON) April 16, 2008 --
DataPoint, a Baltimore-based managed service provider with a
carrier-class data center that serves business customers throughout the
Mid-Atlantic region, has added more than thirty new customers since the
beginning of the year and is redefining how Baltimore views managed
services by tailoring customized solutions to fit each customer’s
needs. Capital improvements and strategic economies of scale support
DataPoint customers and help drive new growth.
Following its acquisition of Charm Net and Velocity Server, and their
move into Baltimore’s Tide
Point campus three years ago, DataPoint has since added an
additional 10,000 square feet of raised floor space with the option to
add more later in 2008.
Curtis DePass, General Manager at DataPoint says they are growing into
their space at an accelerated pace. “This past
year has been great mainly because the growth we’ve
experienced has deepened our resources to the point where we can make
very intricate managed services available to the Baltimore tech
community. The improvements we’ve made over
the past year really support our value proposition and allow us to
provide services in-house, where we can maintain and guarantee a
high-level of service and support. We’ve
effectively become a one-stop shop.”
Quality control is what has increased the number of healthcare and
financial services firms DataPoint has come to work with over the past
years. Often times, these industries are subjected to strict
requirements, and even Federal regulations, regarding records
management. DataPoint’s managed services
include a full in-house stable of servers, switches, firewall, router,
and back-up options which can be managed entirely by DataPoint staff.
Sales Manager at DataPoint, Anthony Estelle, says retailers are also
increasingly counting on them to provide an IT package that offers
security and multi-site access, and DataPoint is well equipped to
implement what is necessary. “I am confident
that we can provide a solution to meet just about any need. When I’m
working with our customers, I can see the areas where extra support
makes such a difference – especially when it
comes to monitoring as well as tailoring hardware and software to
leverage existing investments.”
In addition to an improved portfolio of managed services, DataPoint also
offers enterprise-level colocation
and broadband
services. Within two months it will also begin offering virtualization
services. Virtualization allows one computer do the job of multiple
computers. Virtual servers and desktops enable multiple operating
systems and multiple applications to be run and accessed both locally
and in remote locations by sharing the resources of a single computer
across multiple environments so users are freed from physical and
geographical limitations.
