Lumidigm Fingerprint Sensor Now Standard Equipment in Diebold identiCenter®

US Biometrics Integrates Award-Winning Fingerprint Technology into System

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Business Wire EON) May 14, 2008 -- Diebold, Incorporated, US Biometrics Corporation, and Lumidigm Inc. have joined forces to bring a new level of convenience, security and reliability to Diebolds identiCenter security system. Lumidigms patented Venus multispectral fingerprint sensors will now be part of every new Diebold identiCenter installation. The technology was selected by US Biometrics for Diebolds innovative identification solution because of the sensors superior enrollment capability and ease of use. Later this year, Diebold will be integrating biometrics with its drive-up systems and has selected Lumidigms multispectral imaging technology for these applications, thereby ensuring the security of financial transactions in all weather conditions.

This technology enables the use of biometrics just about anywhere.
Diebolds identiCenter, powered by US Biometrics, is a biometric security solution for financial institutions that uses an individual's fingerprint to quickly, securely and accurately identify account holders within a financial institution. It uses proven Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint technology to address the threat of identity theft among consumers and financial institutions, a concern that affects 10 million Americans at a total cost impact of $50 billion annually.

News Image Tim O'Neill, Diebold identiCenter product manager, is pleased with the upgrade. The Lumidigm sensor brings an entirely new level of performance. It allows us the ability to enroll customers that have very fine fingerprints that typically cannot be captured on conventional optical sensors, said ONeill. Customer satisfaction is paramount, and the Lumidigm sensor helps Diebold achieve that.

Lumidigms fingerprint sensors capture accurate and high-quality fingerprint images by exposing the fingerprint surface and subsurface at the same time. This capability permits Lumidigm to achieve high biometric performance in security applications without compromising convenience for the end user. It also allows use in environments where other sensors fail.

US Biometrics selected Lumidigm for identiCenter because no other fingerprint solution provides the performance in challenging conditions that we have seen demonstrated by Lumidigm sensors, said David Delgrosso, President of US Biometrics. This technology enables the use of biometrics just about anywhere.
