Top Health Site RevolutionHealth.com Marks First Anniversary
Revolution Health Network flagship site empowers tens of millions to
live better
WASHINGTON (Business Wire EON) April 21, 2008 --
Revolution Health today commemorated the first anniversary of
RevolutionHealth.com, the flagship site of Revolution Health Network. In
only its first year, the site received more than 43 million visitors,
won awards for content, design and blogging and became one of the most
trusted and most trafficked health sites in a rapidly growing field. Revolution
Health Network, currently less than a year old, has already become
one of the top online health information properties in the industry.
“It’s a testament to
the hard work of Revolution Health’s
incredibly talented employees that RevolutionHealth.com
has gone from its infancy a year ago to one of the top health
information destinations today,” said Steve
Case, chairman and CEO of Revolution Health. “We
know our journey has just begun, but in one year’s
time we have started to engage consumers in making health care easier,
more understandable and more actionable, all in our mission to engage
people to take more control over their health.”
When RevolutionHealth.com was launched a year ago, there were relatively
few trusted choices for health information. In its first year,
RevolutionHealth.com helped more than 5.5 million visitors connect with
one another through online
health communities. Community members searched
for doctors more than 11 million times and searched
for specific health terms another nine million times. Furthermore,
the amount of time that people have spent on RevolutionHealth.com has
steadily increased over time, totaling more than 382 million minutes, or
the equivalent of 726 years.
Case founded Revolution Health to give people the information and tools
they need to improve health and connect with others with similar
experiences. Harnessing the power of the Internet, Revolution Health is
putting the power of information and decision making into the hands of
consumers so they can make smart choices for themselves and their
families.
“Through our online communities,
RevolutionHealth.com is helping change people’s
lives, giving them the information, tools and support they need to live
healthier,” said Case. “We
want to be the catalyst for healthy change and help to put people on the
road to success.”
For example, Chris Lannom of Hendersonville, TN, has been smoke-free for
five months with the help of the doctor led “Smoke-Free”
group on RevolutionHealth.com. After 35 years of smoking and 20
years of on-and-off attempts to quit, Lannom finally was able to reach
her personal health goal.
“I wanted others to know that quitting is a
lifetime effort, and you have to work at it every day,”
said Lannom. She visits RevolutionHealth.com regularly to read new posts
by Dr. Scherger, who leads the group, and respond to questions which
helps her to stay motivated. “Any time you’re
encouraging others, it also strengthens you,”
she said.
Kim MacKinnon, who underwent gastric bypass surgery in 2003 also turned
to RevolutionHealth.com – both to share her
story with others who might benefit from the procedure and to learn more
about how to manage nutrition and fitness to keep her weight off.
“I’ve always found
strength in sharing my weight loss story,”
said MacKinnon. “I didn’t
realize that I would need so much information and ongoing support after
the procedure, and I’ve found that at
RevolutionHealth.com.”
