MATHCOUNTS® Launches Mathcounts.org with Live National Competition and ``Rational Expressions'' Blog
First Ever Webcast of the National Competition

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(EON:Enhanced Online News)--In continued celebration of its 25th Anniversary, the MATHCOUNTS Foundation today announced the launch of its new web site – www.mathcounts.org featuring a sleek new design and a variety of added features. Executive Director Lou DiGoia will be keeping in regular contact with site visitors through his new “Rational Expressions” blog, and a streaming live webcast is planned for the final countdown round of the national competition on May 9, 2008.

The new site features cutting-edge design and a user-friendly interface that gives Mathletes®, coaches, alumni and parents a plethora of positive problems, information and features to help middle school students achieve excellence in mathematics and develop critical thinking skills.
MATHCOUNTS® is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state and territory, and is one of the most successful education partnerships involving volunteers, educators, industry sponsors and students in America. Skills in mathematics provides a framework for everyday living in a technological age, and MATHCOUNTS provides unique programs that enhance the classroom experience and are fun for students and their coaches.
The new site offers:
- Improved forums for students, teachers and coordinators
- “Rational Expressions,” a blog that enables MATHCOUNTS Executive Director Lou DiGioia to keep in touch with site visitors on a regular basis – and vice-versa.

Since the inception of MATHCOUNTS, more than 7 million students have used MATHCOUNTS materials and over 41,000 middle schoolers from all 50 states and US Territories compete in local and regional MATHCOUNTS competitions each year. The final 228 go on to the national competition to vie for the top spot as the nation’s winning Mathlete.
This year, in celebration of its 25th Anniversary, MATHCOUNTS introduced a new Club Program, free-of-charge, designed specifically to extend the foundation’s efforts to students and schools who do not wish to participate in a math competition with other schools, but want to encourage group activities and collaborative learning to develop students’ mathematical abilities.
