NetQoS Performance Center Metrics Available in Microsoft System
Center Operations Manager 2007
Combination Simplifies Network and Application Performance Management
and Improves Troubleshooting for Network and Operations Teams
LAS VEGAS (Business Wire EON) April 29, 2008 --
Operations managers and network engineers can now view key performance
metrics from NetQoS®
Inc. alongside system and network management reports from Microsoft
Corp. in order to reduce mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) and improve
application delivery.
The NetQoS
Management Pack for Operations Manager 2007 combines application
response time, link traffic analysis, and device performance metrics
from the NetQoS Performance Center into the Microsoft System Center
Operations Manager console. The combination will enable operations teams
to provide superior network and application services via an enterprise
view of the relationship between infrastructure use and application
performance.
“Microsoft System Center Operations Manager
2007 monitors servers, applications, and clients across the enterprise
to provide an end-to-end view of the health of an organization’s
IT environment,” said Robert Reynolds,
director of System Center product management at Microsoft Corp. “With
the combination of NetQoS Performance Center views and passive
performance data collection with System Center Operations Manager,
customers have rich capabilities to quickly identify the
performance-related events that are having a detrimental impact on
service quality.”
The combination provides an at-a-glance
view of network, server, and application performance across an
organization with continuously updated summary reports, including
performance by application, incidents by network, and top enterprise
protocols. This diagnostic data along with real-time alerts on
performance degradations will help operations teams decrease MTTR and
improve operational efficiency and collaboration. For more detailed
troubleshooting and analysis, each view in System Center Operations
Manager 2007 provides a direct link to the NetQoS Performance Center and
its component modules.
“Combining performance metrics with
fault-based metrics has become a necessity rather than a luxury to
effectively manage today’s complex networks
and ensure optimal application delivery,”
said Gordon Daugherty, vice president of corporate development for
NetQoS. “The ability to view NetQoS
Performance Center data in System Center Operations Manager 2007 is an
important step in enabling IT operations teams, especially those in
larger organizations, to manage their networks for application
performance. Rather than using multiple consoles and products for
troubleshooting, operations teams can now view all the information they
need to solve problems from a single platform.”

Performance Center views that are available in the System Center

About NetQoS
Performance Center
The NetQoS Performance Center unlocks the intelligence needed to
quantify network and application performance across an entire
organization with end-to-end application response time monitoring,
network traffic analysis, device performance management, long-term
packet capture and analysis, and VoIP performance monitoring. Via a
single Web-based management console, the NetQoS Performance Center
integrates the data in customized views to help organizations optimize
application delivery, solve problems faster, mitigate the risks from
change, and make the most efficient use of resources. With role-specific
views for different groups in an IT organization, such as network
engineering, operations, IT service managers, and IP telephony
management, the NetQoS Performance Center enables staff at all levels to:
-
Measure end-user application response times
-
Provide consistent application service delivery
-
Understand how infrastructure changes affect network and application
performance
-
Isolate performance problems to the application, server, or network
-
Identify the applications and users consuming bandwidth, and when
-
Avoid unnecessary WAN costs
-
Correlate network performance to VoIP call quality of experience
-
Manage the convergence of voice, video and data
-
Identify virus or denial of service attacks and unauthorized
application usage
