AUSTIN, Texas (Business Wire EON) November 27, 2007 --
As part of its commitment to provide an exceptional user experience,
NetQoS® Inc. has
appointed industry veteran Russell Wilson to its newly created role of
vice president of product design. In this role, Wilson will provide
creative leadership to establish guiding software design principles,
define and implement best practices, and apply new technologies and
techniques that will help NetQoS continue to set the industry standard
for software usability within the NetQoS Performance Center suite of
network performance management products.
“Russell understands that software is no
longer about customers making do with the available tools, but about
creating the best tools for the job,” said Dr.
Cathy Fulton, NetQoS CTO. “As vice president
of product design, Russell will help NetQoS continue to meet and exceed
the expectations of customers who demand easier-to-use products that
help them efficiently meet their IT objectives.”
Wilson joined NetQoS as director of product design in May 2005 and has
since led the user interface design of the company’s
network performance management products, with an emphasis on information
architecture, usability, and interaction design. Working closely with
sales, product management, and software engineering, he has implemented
leading-edge processes and tools that have enhanced the design of
existing and upcoming NetQoS products. His design expertise and industry
knowledge have helped NetQoS maintain its exceptional customer
satisfaction ratings and ensure that ease of use remains a focal point
of the company’s product development strategy.
“As organizations face increasingly complex
network and application performance challenges, the importance of
well-designed, user-centered management tools becomes mission critical,”
said Wilson. “This new role presents an
exciting opportunity, and with the NetQoS commitment to product design,
I am confident we can continue to design easy-to-use products that lower
operating costs and improve efficiency.”
With more than 18 years of experience, Wilson has been involved in the
design and development of eight successful commercial products and more
than 15 enterprise software applications for the Fortune 500. Prior to
joining NetQoS, he served as the vice president of engineering for
HyPerformix, a predictive IT management vendor, and president and chief
executive officer of ALVE Technology, a call center management software
company. Wilson began his career with IBM, where he held development
manager and design lead positions.
Wilson is the Austin ambassador for the User Experience Network (UXnet),
as well as the Austin representative for the Interaction Designers
Association. In addition, he is a member of the Association for
Computing Machinery, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and the Usability
Professionals’ Association. He holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and a Master of Science
degree in software engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
