EDAS, Inc., Awarded SBIR Phase II Contract to Further Develop Blade Vibration Measurement

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (Business Wire EON) May 27, 2008 -- Experimental Design and Analysis Solutions, Inc (EDAS, Inc.) announces award of a two year, Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II contract. The work will advance multi-source digital signal processing and analysis for characterization of vibrations in turbo-machinery blades.

We're delighted that our US Navy sponsor has again shown confidence in EDAS to advance this significant technology
Under the terms of the contract, EDAS will continue efforts begun under a successfully executed Phase 1 SBIR to integrate NSMS technology with strain gage and finite element data sources using innovative processing techniques.

News Image EDASs NSMS-G4 (Non-interference Stress Measurement System) is a technology whereby blade vibrations in turbo-machinery are measured using lasers or other sensors. The United States Department of Defense has invested heavily in the technology over several years and has used it to test many DoD weapon systems economically. Strain gage data is generated by EDASs EDAS-DS which is a data acquisition and real-time monitoring product. GageMap, another EDAS product, provides the finite element analysis interface. The Phase II award will work toward making these three products work together as one and improve overall engineering understanding.

Were delighted that our US Navy sponsor has again shown confidence in EDAS to advance this significant technology, said Dr. Kurt Nichol, EDAS President and CEO. We have an aggressive plan to transition elements of the Phase II contract to the marketplace incrementally so the Navy and our customers will see benefits early.

A licensed, professional engineering firm based in central Tennessee, EDAS is a provider of high-technology engineering services, dynamic data acquisition with real-time monitoring, data analysis and archival products that benefit our increasing customer base, world-wide. Certified to ISO 9001:2000 quality standards, EDAS is continually striving to bring the highest quality products to market.
