TransCore Adds StarTraks ReeferTrak Product to Portfolio of Mobile Satellite Services

OTTAWA (Business Wire EON) April 15, 2008 -- For nearly a decade StarTrak has been a TransCore GlobalWave® value added reseller, and has integrated the GlobalWave satellite modem into StarTraks refrigerated carrier product known as ReeferTrak®. To expand market accessibility and leverage TransCores channels to market, TransCore will add StarTraks ReeferTrak RT-6000 to the portfolio of satellite communication products it offers to North American carriers. Customers will access the full ReeferTrak service directly through StarTraks wireless network.

This is a strong addition to TransCore's portfolio of asset management products and services designed for the transportation industry including RFID, satellite trailer tracking, and in-cab telematics
Refrigerated freight accounts for approximately $5 billion worth of products transported each year. The temperature sensitive nature of the freight requires specialty equipment, and the failure to maintain a certain temperature could cost tens of thousands in losses. Using satellite-based trailer tracking and sensor technology allows a company to remotely monitor its freight, setting alarms when trailer temperatures deviate from set thresholds and quickly avoid a crisis.

News Image This is a strong addition to TransCores portfolio of asset management products and services designed for the transportation industry including RFID, satellite trailer tracking, and in-cab telematics, explained David Sward, TransCores GlobalWave general manager.

StarTraks new RT-6000 product provides state-of-the-art refrigeration management features for trailers, trucks, railcars and containers including reefer status, temperature compliance, remote control, tractor identification, and precision fuel information. Communications are powered by TransCores GlobalWave satellite communications network and features TransCores core modem that provides fast response, onboard GPS location data and reliable/secure communications throughout North and Central America.

The RT-6000 product is compatible with and certified for every configuration of transport refrigeration unit made by all leading reefer manufacturers and interfaces with StarTraks RAMP Service (Refrigerated-Asset Management Platform) which provides users with full visibility, control and alarm features. The RT-6000 comes complete with brackets and cables for quick easy installation. Other benefits include: pre-scheduled or on demand position reports, geo-fencing, and over-the-air configuration control to enable or change features.
