New Toshiba Satellite Laptops Loaded with Innovative Features and Unique Technologies

IRVINE, Calif. (Business Wire EON) June 24, 2008 -- Toshibas Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the latest iteration of its popular Satellite® laptops with enhanced capabilities and features, providing cutting-edge technology to offer users a high-quality experience.

USB Sleep & Charge function
The Toshiba Satellite P300, Satellite A300, Satellite M300 and Satellite U400 laptop PC series have been updated with Intels latest Core 2 Duo processor(1) technology, which offers dependable wireless connectivity, greater battery life and optimum performance for running the most demanding applications.

News Image Building upon the Satellite laptop PC's solid reputation of quality, several innovative features have been included:

  • 64-bit Computing: Depending upon a users preference and computing requirements, select configurations of the Satellite P300, Satellite A300 and Satellite M300 are available with the 64-bit(2) version of Windows Vista®. With a 64-bit OS, users can take advantage of a full 4GB of memory for executing highly strenuous applications that require complex number crunching like editing complex videos and photos or producing music and audio files simultaneously.
  • Built-in FM Tuner: A built-in FM tuner allows users to enjoy their favorite FM radio broadcasts while working on their Satellite laptop.
  • eSATA Port: An eSATA port enables the high-speed transfer of files between the laptop PC and an external hard drive with transfer rates that are up to five times faster than standard USB 2.0.
  • Sleep-and-Charge USB Ports(3): Users can charge their portable electronic devices such as MP3 players, mobile phones, digital cameras or PDAs with Sleep-and-Charge USB ports, whether the laptop is powered-on, off or in hibernation mode.
  • Face Recognition: Each Satellite laptop PC is equipped with TOSHIBA Face Recognition software, an innovative feature which offers users a fun and convenient way to access their computer using its embedded Webcam.

Additionally, each new Satellite delivers premium audio, through a set of Harman Kardon® stereo speakers for a rich, cinema-like sound experience. Meanwhile, select Satellite models come equipped with Toshibas REGZA LINK (HDMI-CEC) technology empowering users with instant and automated device configuration and the ability to control linked HDMI-CEC enabled devices, such as Toshibas REGZA HDTVs and a Satellite laptop PC, with a single remote.
