Nuventix SynJet Fanless Air Cooler Enables Ultra Bright LED Lighting Solutions at LIGHTFAIR

Companies Choose SynJet Technology for Reliable, Quiet and Thermally Effective Active LED Cooling

LAS VEGAS (Business Wire EON) May 28, 2008 -- From LIGHTFAIR International 2008, Nuventix, Inc., the electronics cooling technology innovator and LED industry thermal management specialist, will show its SynJet technology in multiple LED Downlight Module (DLM), MR-16 and PAR-38 solutions. Nuventix SynJet technology is a fanless active cooling technology that offers silent operation, long life, and optimal cooling for LED lighting solutions. Several companies including Philips, Cooper, Focal Point, Intematix, and Luminus will all be showing SynJet technology enabled LED designs.

Using SynJet cooling technology can put LED lighting developers 24 months ahead of their competitors and gets efficient lighting products in the hands of consumers faster.
Nuventix SynJet technology is enabling the LED lighting market, pulling forward light levels projected possible years from now to today, said Jim Balthazar, president and CEO, Nuventix. Using SynJet cooling technology can put LED lighting developers 24 months ahead of their competitors and gets efficient lighting products in the hands of consumers faster.

News Image DLM or recessed lighting solutions have traditionally used incandescent light bulbs or compact fluorescents, which have a shorter lifespan and use more energy than LED lighting solutions. Nuventix SynJet technology solutions allow cooling components to be completely contained, offering greater flexibility to designers building DLM LED solutions.

The MR-16 SynJet cooling module cools a 15W heat source in an LED lighting application and the PAR-38 solutions cool 35-50W. Both provide 100,000 hours L10 life at 50C and meet the MR-16 and PAR-38 form factor requirements with near silent acoustics.

How SynJet Technology Works

The SynJet module creates turbulent, pulsated air-jets that can be directed precisely to locations where thermal management is needed for industrial spot or chip cooling requiring high reliability and flexible form-factor implementations.

The vortex-dominated SynJet flow enhances small-scale mixing near the heated surfaces to yield higher effective heat transfer at low-volume flow rates compared to conventional air movers. The SynJet flow is created using Nuventix patented actuator technology and proprietary fluidic packaging expertise. High flexibility, reliability and effective active cooling are all necessary to create LED lighting solutions for retail, business and consumer audiences.

At LIGHTFAIR 2008

DLM lighting solutions using SynJet technology can be seen at the Philips Product Showcase, Cooper (#635) and Focal Point (#2367) booths throughout the show.

Luminus (Red Rock ballroom at the Marriott Suites Hotel) and Intematix (Booth #2642) will be showing MR-16 and PAR-38 LED light sources with SynJet cooling modules.
