Toshiba Launches Premium Wireless Projector for Large Venues

TDP-TW420U Features Multi-screen Functionality, Windows Vista(R) Wireless Network Capabilities and PC-Free' Presentations for $2,919

IRVINE, Calif. (Business Wire EON) June 18, 2008 -- Adding to its award-winning projector lineup, Toshiba's Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the launch of a high-powered projector, the TDP-TW420U. This new DLP® XGA projector is the company's first presentation solution with multi-screen functionality, which allows users to network up to four projectors from a single computer to create larger images for a variety of venue sizes. This innovative projector is affordably priced at $2,9191 (MSRP) and offers Toshiba's three-year standard limited warranty2.

The Toshiba TDP-TW420U wireless projector's multi-screen function makes this presentation device ideal for customers who need to combine up to four projectors to create large venue displays or to present up to two different screen images at once from one computer source.
Designed for corporate customers, higher education and house of worship (HOW) facilities, the Toshiba TDP-TW420U projector is ideal for presenters who demand quality, versatility and performance. Packaged in a compact form factor, the high-performance TDP-TW420U projector features DLP® technology, a whopping 4,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, native XGA 1024 x 768 resolution, and 2000:1 contrast ratio to deliver bright, captivating images that can go anywhere, anytime. The projector is bright enough to leave the lights on or the window shades open during presentations.

News Image Toshiba has once again utilized its expertise in mobile computing to integrate the most versatile features in the TDP-TW420U projector to fit a variety of Pro AV installation and mobile presentation uses, said Jeff Barney, vice president and general manager, Digital Products Division, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. The Toshiba TDP-TW420U wireless projector's multi-screen function makes this presentation device ideal for customers who need to combine up to four projectors to create large venue displays or to present up to two different screen images at once from one computer source.

With the TDP-TW420U projector, Toshiba is delivering what the house of worship segment is looking for most, reliability, picture quality, high brightness and resolution along with a longer warranty, said Tanya Lippke, manager of survey market research at TFC Info. The Toshiba TDP-TW420U projector also offers church users high brightness for difficult ambient lighting situations and the option to incorporate additional long throw or short throw lenses, critical for the multitude of front or rear projection applications used in churches.

Weighing less than 10-pounds, the projector also features Windows Vista® networking capabilities and integrated wireless3 functionality for quick and easy presentation set up, as well as remote network management and extensive multimedia connectivity. The projector also offers on-the-go professionals the option to deliver PC-free presentations with a USB thumb drive by simply storing the presentation in JPEG format and connecting to the USB port.

Toshiba's TDP-TW420U is intelligently designed with DLP® technology to deliver exceptional image quality and crisp, clear pictures and bright, rich colors. Unlike many projectors on the market, this Toshiba DLP projector is filter-free. This design feature keeps damaging dust particles from collecting on imaging elements and therefore may reduce the total cost of ownership by requiring one less part to replace, less maintenance and by extending the projector's lamp life.

Users can also expect seamless presentations with remote network management from this projector. The TDP-TW420U projector can be networked and controlled remotely via a wired LAN connection, which is password protected for increased security. Also, to help reduce the total cost of ownership and wear and tear on the unit, the Toshiba TDP-TW420U projector's network capability allows IT administrators to remotely control the projector over a network and receive e-mail notification via SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) for issues related to temperature, fan and lamp status.

The Toshiba TDP-TW420U projector also includes the following leading-edge features:

  • Windows Vista® network capabilities allows presenters to wirelessly transfer JPEG files from a notebook with ease, for slide show presentations or images embedded in documents;
  • Built-in IEEE 802.11 b/g wireless3 functionality delivers fast set-up time and enables presenters to easily connect their wireless notebooks to the projector from anywhere in the room, and deliver sequential presentations without the need for cables;
  • Toshibas unique Natural Color Enhancer4 color correction circuitry, delivering exceptionally sharp and vivid images that more closely match original presentation colors;
  • Blackboard function with wall color adjustment. Simply select a wall color, such as green, black, brown, blue or beige, for a clearer display on non-screen surfaces;
  • A fully-loaded presentation remote control with laser pointer ensures worry-free, professional presentations even in the most unforgiving environments;
  • Digital zoom function on the remote control allows the presenter to zoom in on a specific image or presentation element, such as spreadsheet numbers or other important details;
  • Password protection and key-lock function to help prevent unauthorized use;
  • Instant power shut down capability that enables the projector to power off instantly once disconnected from the power outlet with no cool-down time required;
  • Automatic digital keystone correction system, allowing presenters to adjust errors quickly and easily for a proportional, squared display;
  • Auto set which allows users to automatically synchronize the setting between their PCs and the projector;
  • Whisper-quiet operation of only 29 decibels (dB) (in low mode) quieter than a soft conversation;
  • In addition, the projector features convenient lamp access on the top panel for easy lamp replacement, even when the projector is ceiling mounted.

The Toshiba TDP-TW420U projector will be available in July 2008 through Toshiba's authorized distributors, VARs, mail-order outlets and www.toshibadirect.com.
